Neighbors helping neighbors through hard times.

Humanity Over Poverty Effort (HOPE) is a new North Carolina nonprofit that gives practical help to people in need: food, clothing, household goods, and help with bills.

Our mission

Simple help, given with dignity.

We collect grants, donations, and donated goods, and we put them to work for families who need them. Sometimes that means handing out donated items directly. Sometimes it means using donations to buy exactly what a family is missing.

Food

Groceries and food for families and individuals who are running short.

Clothing

Clean, practical clothing for children and adults, including seasonal and winter items.

Household Goods

Everyday essentials that help make a home work: basic household items, supplies, and more.

Help With Bills

Help with essential bills when a family is facing a hard month.

How it works

Where your gift goes

  1. You give money, goods, or your time.
  2. We match what is given with families who reach out to us.
  3. Families receive food, clothing, household goods, or help with a bill.

Our founder takes no salary.

HOPE was started by Suleiman Aqrabawi, who volunteers his time without pay. The goal is for donations to go to people in need.
